My first week as a Student Paramedic

My First Week Experiences I was terrified before my first day on placement (which was clear if you have read my last post). I got up at 4am to get to the station at 6am (as you always ought to get to station at least 15 minutes early). I met my mentor who was lovely (and probably nearly as nervous as I was) and the shift begun! My mentor and I discussed what I felt comfortable with and what I wanted to do. I was her first student as she was a mentor in training so we were both in the same position to start off with. I chose to take a back step to begin with, but quickly she encouraged and helped me to get more involved. My main concern is doing things wrong, however in the service there are plenty of ways to do things - all paramedics do things differently - so it is important to have a go so long that it is safe. My Journey into Becoming a Newly Qualified Paramedic (Part 4) - Local Area Induction

Here is my story documenting from my last submission of my degree into becoming a baby paramedic. This series will include getting my degree, trust and local area inductions, driver training and more! It has been covid-fied (as expected) but not too much has changed, as the ambulance service has had to keep running pretty much the same throughout the pandemic. Generic Admin Stuff At half nine on Monday morning I went into station for my local area induction with another girl who was on my trust induction and who I went to uni with. We went and sat in the new covid-fied station (distanced chairs and lots of signs and info sheets on the walls) and waited for the LOM (locality operations manager? I think? AKA a manager) to come and get us. After we sorted a coffee, we went into one of the meeting rooms so start our induction.
